Dictoterix Terms of Service

Last updated: August 21, 2026

1. Who we are and what these Terms cover

Dictoterix ("Dictoterix", "the Service", "we", "us") is a language-learning web application operated by Leonid Plekhanov, based in Mexico ("the Operator"). The Service is available at dictoterix.com.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the Operator. By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of your agreement with us.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By registering, you confirm that you are 16 or older. We do not knowingly allow younger users; if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it and delete its data.

3. Your account

4. The Service

Dictoterix helps you learn vocabulary and language skills through practice sessions, a structured curriculum, listening and pronunciation exercises, progress tracking, and related features.

5. AI-generated content

Parts of the Service are powered by artificial-intelligence language models, including:

AI-generated content is labeled or contextually identifiable as such (for example, your practice partner is not a human being). AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading — including grammar explanations and translations. It is provided for learning practice only and is not professional, medical, legal, or any other kind of advice. If something an AI says matters to you outside the app, verify it independently.

6. User content and conduct

Some features let you submit content: messages to other users, images shared in chat, feedback, reports, and your profile details ("User Content").

7. Intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, curriculum structure, sentence corpus, generated audio, illustrations, and branding — is owned by the Operator or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own language learning. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Service or its content except as allowed by law (such as statutory exceptions that cannot be waived).

8. Paid features (none yet)

The Service currently has no paid features and processes no payments. If we introduce optional paid features in the future (for example, a premium membership tier granting access to additional features), the following will apply:

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes what personal data we collect, why, who processes it, and your rights. Highlights: microphone audio from pronunciation practice is processed entirely on your device and never uploaded; we run no advertising or third-party analytics trackers.

10. Suspension, termination, and service changes

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content (including AI-generated content), and non-infringement.

This section does not limit rights that consumer-protection law grants you and that cannot be waived by contract — including mandatory consumer rights in Mexico (Ley Federal de Protección al Consumidor), the European Union, Brazil, and other jurisdictions where you reside.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of profits arising from your use of (or inability to use) the free Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Indemnity

If your violation of these Terms causes a third-party claim against the Operator, you agree to compensate the Operator for reasonable resulting costs, except to the extent such an obligation is unenforceable under the consumer law of your jurisdiction.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico. Disputes will be submitted to the competent courts of Querétaro, Mexico, and you and the Operator each consent to that venue.

Consumer carve-out: if you use the Service as a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law grants you mandatory protections or a mandatory local forum (for example, EU member states, Brazil, or a US state), nothing in this section deprives you of those protections or that forum. EU residents may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at support@dictoterix.com — most issues can be resolved informally.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. For material changes we will give notice (for example, by email or an in-app notice) at least 14 days before the change takes effect. If you continue using the Service after that date, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, you may delete your account before the effective date.
